The truth is that mental ill health is getting worse, not better.Andy Cope – Mental health solutions for business owners
Fall in love with Monday.
“Everybody listening to this podcast, you can all think of in your life, probably a handful of people who are fantastic, you will find buzzing with energy and vitality and creativity.
They seem to love Mondays the same as they love Fridays. And basically, psychology has never studied those people, because they’re just getting on with their life with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step.
So I decided, well, the rest of psychology continues to look at phobias, disorders, anxiety, and all that. I wanted to look at the ones who are well, who have not only who are they, but what are they doing that makes them flourish.
And most importantly, what auto brilliance does now is what might we then learn from them that we can apply to ourselves so that we might flourish as well.”
Most people are a million miles away from feeling as great as they could.Andy Cope – Mental health solutions for business owners
Mental health solutions
“The modern world is brutal. The world and the people who’ve got through the pandemic, particularly if you work in education and health services, are exhausted, they are running on empty.
I just think that when the world is doing its worse, which it has been now for two and a half years, then it becomes even more important that we know how to be at our best.
Positive psychology reminds you to be you. It’s not about trying to be somebody else. It’s not about comparing yourself to anybody else. It’s genuinely about learning how to get back to being your best self more often.
What that means is that when the world does bad to you, which it will, then you might bend, but you don’t have to break.
I think that’s a really big point because in the modern world there are a lot of broken people out there who are really really struggling and think the world needs wellbeing and some really simple principles.
We want doable stuff, we want humour and just want to feel good.“
