If people can’t perceive your strategy from the outside and relay it back to you, in my view that means the strategy doesn’t exist.Transformational Strategy Solutions w/ Alex M H Smith
How to approach Strategy Solutions differently?
Strategy is 50% deciding what you’re going to do and 50% motivation, because it’s one thing to decide what to do, but it’s a very different thing to get your team to put energy into it, and do it.
Strategy to me is 50% an inspirational game, whereas the entire strategy industry out there is set up as if it’s a purely technical discipline.
What I do is I think, okay, how can I talk about strategy using all the same kind of good strategic theory that any kind of technical strategist would use, but present it in a way that provokes action.
Everybody should be able to look at your website, at you, your offering, your business and if you ask them, what do you think my strategy is? They should be able to give you a pretty accurate summary of it, purely by observing you.
If they can’t, then quite simply, that means that the strategy doesn’t exist.
The only reason the strategy has been created is the purpose of the market or the customer to perceive it. If they can’t perceive it, then why even have it?
Having a funnel is better than having no funnel.Transformational Strategy Solutions w/ Alex M H Smith
What is a Funnel?
At the most basic level, you just need people to hear about you in some way. If people don’t hear about you, then no one’s ever going to buy your stuff.
So, every business then needs some method by which people hear about them for the first time, which is not necessarily the same thing as making the sale clearly.
They might have to hear about you a hundred times before you make the sale.
So that method by which people hear about you needs to be as mass and broad reach as possible.
For a lot of businesses, the most obvious way of doing that is advertising.
The first way you hear about business is an ad because obviously you can pay and you can find lot of people and then lots of people will hear about you.
Depending on what you’re selling, there are different ways of getting that mass reach.
